Because of this, we are celebrating those relationships by showcasing Karats Couples in a special way. Every month we will tell you a love story between two couples who have touched our hearts. This month we meet Brent and Danielle Ussary.
Meet Brent and Danielle Ussary
Brent Ussary is the Managing Director of Northwestern Mutual Kansas City. He also runs his own Wealth Management Practice. Danielle is Brent’s Director of Client Services. She coaches their new advisors. Their relationship blossomed at work and soon love was in the air!
Just Propose!
Brent needed a little help when it came to proposing to the love of his life. The couple was on their way to another city for work when they decided to stay a night in Chicago. Danielle was a little under the weather and really wanted pizza. Brent had a different idea and recommended they get dressed up. So instead they headed to the Ocean Prime restaurant. Afterward, they went for a romantic walk along Chicago’s riverwalk. Brent began professing his love and stumbled to find the right words to propose, that is when help arrived in the form of a man on a passing boat who shouted, “Just do it already, just propose!” With that little boost of motivation, he was on one knee asking Danielle to be his wife.
Later over a glass of celebratory champagne, Danielle told Brent she had three non-negotiables for their wedding: first, Mexican food served to the guests, second, have Brent’s mentor from Memphis as our officiant, and third, hire DJ Ashton Martin to play the dance music.
The Ring
Set on surprising Danielle with a yellow diamond, Brent was looking for a ring that would also compliment her beauty. He wanted it to be something she would forever cherish. So, he headed to Karats Jewelers where he knew his NWMSU college friend, Andy, was the owner. “When I stepped foot in his store, Andy and his staff were very welcoming. After what I described, Andy was a great guide in narrowing down to the perfect choice. He not only built my confidence in the purchase but congratulated me and the excitement built for my upcoming proposal.” When it came time to purchase the wedding bands they headed back to Karats where they both found rings, symbolizing their relationship.
The Wedding
On September 19th, 2020 the couple was wed! Both the ceremony and reception were held at the 28 Event Space in the Kansas City room. They loved the Kansas City artwork featured in the space, it made a fantastic backdrop to what was a perfect day! Other wonderful touches included Danielle’s uncle playing the guitar for their ceremony. They also had 8 girls from the volleyball team coached by Danielle to be the couple’s flower girls.
And of course, Brent came through with Danielle’s requests she mentioned in Chicago when Brent proposed! His mentor, Tim was their officiant, and Lost Wax & DJ Ashton Martin performed at the reception. The entire atmosphere was wonderful as guests spent the evening dancing, and laughing all evening long! The couple wanted a big party to celebrate their love with family and friends and there was no doubt they accomplished that!
Their Love
Almost two years after the ceremony, the couple has eased into married life. One thing remains clear; their love for each other is as strong as the day they were standing on that Chicago riverwalk when Brent proposed. “What I love most about Brent is how selfless and hardworking he is and how much he loves me,” Danielle replied when asked what she loved most about Brent. Brent’s answer was similar, “I love that Danielle is my perfect compliment, she is naturally great in many areas that I lack and she holds everything together for our business and household.” The couple continues to put each other first every single day which will no doubt strengthen their relationship throughout the years. They also hope to start a family together asking God to bless them with a healthy baby to share in their love.
